Wedding Pictures--Second Round!

(More photos can be found at Giselle's and Mark's Picasa sites)

After the "I Dos," we led a mini parade through the streets of Salomo to the restaurant, Ca La Roser (Rosary House)

Giselle's Aunt (Pedro's sister) and family who live in Pamplona. We stayed with them in 2004. From left to right: Ole, Luisa, Rebecca, Amelia. We were so happy they could be at the wedding and be the "representatives" from the Colombian side of the family!

Mark wore his pirate socks that Giselle got for him and Woody to wear at Woody's wedding last summer

First round from Spain!

Walking through the streets of Salomo, after the small ceremony at the Ajuntamiento (City Hall)

Everyone took tons of photos in Spain, so I'm sure we'll have more difficulty editing than finding photos to post, but for the time being, here are some that Andrea and Giselle's parents took. The professional photos will likely arrive in a month or so, and we'll post them when they arrive. Feel free to share your photos with us and we'll post them too!

Side note: Giselle designed her dress, and Mark had his suit custom-made at a fantastic store in St. Paul, "Heimie's Haberdashery"

Siblings! From left to right: Mark's brother Woody, sisters Laura and Kitren, Mark, Giselle, Giselle's brother Andres, Mark's sister Sarah

During the civil ceremony at the Ajuntamiento

The tables were arranged with table runners that Giselle's Mom made, little white porcelain bud vases, and pink and yellow place cards.

At the village festival after dinner...full of yummy food, but not too full to kick up a storm!

Photos from the "Pre-Ception"

Since we're having such a small wedding in Spain, we decided to have a "pre-ception" to celebrate with our friends in Minnesota. It was lovely and beautifully hosted by Mark's parents at their house on the lake. Masami, a friend from the Walker, took some pictures. Thanks Masami!

Surviving Jet-Lag

Mark's Dad, Dennis, found a great article in the New York Times about long distance travel and combating jet-lag. Some key advice to note:

Drink lots and lots of water
Try to sleep during the time it is night at your destination (Mark and I try to remember to set our watches to the time zone in which we're arriving)
Try to walk around a bit on the plane

The "fighting jet lag" section of the article has more good advice, but it's too long and too formatted to copy into here. Try to check out the article before you can't access it any longer!

Flight information update

So far these are the times/dates that people are flying (that we are aware of). I'll continually update it for those who haven't booked flights yet so you can try to arrive around the same time as others--and have a buddy to walk through customs with!

August 11, Saturday arrival
Morning: Mark and Giselle

Sunday arrival (I don't know what time yet)
Woody and Liz

Tuesday arrival
8:20 am: Dennis, Judy, Sarah Fischer
9:50 am: Pedro, Jennifer Restrepo
11 am: Andrea Lopez

Flights booked, hotel booked...only a few months to go!

Well, we made our flight reservations yesterday: Mark and I are flying on August 10 and arriving Sat. morning. We'll be spending the weekend running errands, meeting with the florist, the photographer, and hopefully getting some quality beach-time in as well. Last weekend Giselle finished up the invitations, so be looking for those in the next week or so. But beware, they don't look like normal invitations!

Part of the coordination effort in booking our tickets was due to the fact that we are going to honeymoon in Florence. We didn't know the best way to get there: a multi-city plane ticket, one-way tickets, train, bus, boat? We finally decided on flying there. A bit more expensive, but definitely faster, and more reliable. Plus, we could make our reservations now, and not have to worry about anything changing in the future. We're really excited about where we're staying: The Hotel Atlantic Palace in Florence, just down the street from the train station, and just around the corner from the baptistry and other sites. At the top and just below are pictures from their website:

Call for flight itineraries!

So that we can start coordinating when everyone is arriving and leaving, please email us your flight itinerary and other details to gisellerestrepo (at) gmail.com, or to grestrepo (at) csom.umn.edu.

We'd like to have a list so that we will be able to make sure people get to and from the airport as easily as possible, and so that we can make sure that lodging is prepared.
